Philip Gent
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Philip has been in the investment industry since the 1980’s and has worked with the same investment team for over 20 years, initially as an equity analyst and then as a private client portfolio manager for individuals, trusts, charities and corporate clients in the UK, Bermuda and the Caribbean. He previously worked at Jupiter Asset Management, where he spent 6 years and then became a co-founder of Peregrine & Black Investment Management following the sale of Jupiter’s Private Client division in 2014. Philip is a member of the Securities Institute, an Associate of the Society of Investment Professionals and a member of the CFA Institute.
Oliver Pearson Lund
CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER
Oliver started his investment career at Coutts over 25 years ago after leaving university. He initially started as an equity analyst and then a private client portfolio manager for individuals, trusts, charities and corporate clients. Oliver held the same role at Invesco Perpetual and latterly Jupiter Asset management where he became a company Director in 2009. Oliver co-founded Peregrine & Black Investment Management in 2015. Oliver is a member of the Securities Institute, an Associate of the Society of Investment Professionals and a member of the CFA Institute.
Karl Thompson
DIRECTOR
After gaining a first class honours degree at university, Karl started his investment career with J.M Finn & Co. He moved over to the trading side to work as a market maker for IFX Markets. Karl left to set up and run the private client stock broking desk at Mint/BGC.
In 2012 Karl founded Peregrine & Black with Patrick Bullman offering bespoke stockbroking services to professional and institutional clients. Karl became a co-founder of Peregrine & Black Investment management in 2015 and is a director of the business.
Patrick Bullman
DIRECTOR
Patrick has over 20 years experience working in bond, equity and CFD markets as a broker. He founded Peregrine & Black Capital in 2012 and became a director of Peregrine & Black Investment Management in 2015.
Peter Pearson Lund
STRATEGIC ADVISOR
Peter Pearson Lund has been a senior figure in the Fund Management Industry for over 40 years, having held a number of senior positions, most notably as Managing Director of Henderson Administration and CEO of Gartmore Fund Managers. Peter joined Rathbones as CEO of Rathbones Unit Trust Management in 1999 where he was responsible for the development and growth of the business over the following twelve years. Peter joined Peregrine & Black Investment Management in 2015.
Nick Marshall
HEAD OF FUND SOLUTIONS
Nick joined Peregrine & Black Investment Management in January 2016 and is responsible for providing fund recommendations for the business and managing bespoke models. Nick started his career working for the Guinness family office and subsequently moved to Smith & Williamson in 2005 and spent just under 10 years where he worked on the multi manager team and was responsible for running and providing fund solutions across a range of strategies for investors and clients. He was also responsible for recommending European and Emerging Market funds for the Private Client teams and sat on the Collectives Committee for the firm. Nick holds a Masters degree in International Financial Analysis and is a Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute.
Graham Withers
HEAD OF DISCRETIONARY INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT
Graham joined Peregrine & Black in June 2019 and is an investment manager specialising in managing segregated portfolios for wealthy private clients, trusts and charities. He also has strong relationships with IFAs and their clients.
Graduating from university in 1991 with a BSc Econ (Hons) in Modern History and Politics, Graham joined the provincial stockbrokers Neilson Cobbold with whom he trained. Qualifying as a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, at Diploma level, Graham became an Associate Director of the company at the age of 25. In 1996 Rathbones acquired Neilson Cobbold and in 2000 Graham was appointed a Fellow of the Securities Institute. He worked as an Investment Director at Rathbones for 25 years in total before joining Peregrine & Black.
He is Chairman of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) Private Client Investment Advice & Management Examination Panel (PCIAM) and is a long-standing member of the CISI Wealth Management Pathway Qualifications Assessment Board and the CISI Examination Board.
Chris Redman
HEAD OF RESPONSIBLE INVESTMENT SOLUTIONS
Chris joined Peregrine & Black Investment Management in December 2018 from Raymond James Investment Services where he established and ran the East Kent branch. Chris has over 30 years’ experience in investment management, having held senior investment positions with Gerrard Investment Management, Barclays Wealth and Collins Stewart. During this time Chris established the global Private Equity service for Barclays Wealth and at Raymond James, launched and managed a leading AIM IHT portfolio service and the ESG investment service. Chris currently leads PBIMs IHT Portfolio and the ESG portfolio service, whilst also offering a local Investment Management offering for private clients in Kent.
Chris is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, holds an Executive MBA and a Degree in Mining Engineering. He has lectured widely on corporate finance and investment processes.
Claire Stringer
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Claire joined the team in June 2021 as Office Manager. She brings to the company 21 years’ experience of Office Management, audit and compliance in the education sector. Claire is responsible for managing all aspects of Peregrine & Black’s administration,HR and supporting with Compliance Administration.
Nicholas Palmer
INVESTMENT DIRECTOR
Nicholas joined Peregrine and Black Investment Management in 2017 and is responsible for providing discretionary investment management services. He started his career in financial services in 2007 working within private client and institutional investment management. In 2008 Nicholas joined an office of Raymond James Investment services where he completed his training and became a Chartered Fellow of the CISI. Here Nicholas gained valuable experience working his way up to become an Investment Manager where he helped to manage portfolios for trusts, charities and families as well as a fund within the Investment association mixed asset sectors. Nicholas joined Attivo Investment Management in 2015 where he helped to establish the London office and sat on the Investment committee, fund selection and equity committees.
Nigel Rosner
INVESTMENT DIRECTOR
Nigel joined Peregrine & Black Investment Management in 2019 as an Investment Director with responsibility for managing private client portfolios and mandates on behalf of Trusts, Charities, Pension Funds, Corporates, High Net Worth families and has a comprehensive knowledge covering The Court of Protection.
Nigel provides tailored Investment advice, clearly & thoroughly, over a broad range of Investment strategies and works closely with professional intermediaries, Solicitors, Accountants & IFA's.
Having spent 23 years at Charles Stanley, Nigel has gained invaluable industry experience working in the City & in Mayfair. He started his career in Financial Services at Societe Generale Strauss Turnbull, followed by the Stockbroking division of Raphael Zorn Hemsley & more recently, the private client Investment office of EFG, the Swiss private bank.
Nigel holds an LL.B ( Hons ) degree in Law & is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment ( FCSI ), a holder of The Securities Institute Diploma and is also a Chartered Wealth Manager.
Harry Coles
CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGER
Harry started his career at Jupiter Asset Management in 2012, working alongside Oliver and Phil, moving with them when the department was sold to Rathbones in 2014.
While at Rathbones, Harry progressed to Investment Manager after completing the CISI Chartered Wealth Manager qualification. He managed portfolios for direct private clients and intermediated clients working closely with Financial Advisors, Accountants and Solicitors. He also managed portfolios for Trusts, Charities, and foreign resident clients. He was a voting member and secretary for the company’s Portfolio Construction Committee, playing a key role in managing Rathbone central investment strategies.
Harry joined Peregrine & Black in August 2024, continuing to manage a range of portfolios and for clients across the world.
Jane Cuthbert
ASSISTANT
Jane joined the team in 2023 and is responsible for supporting all administrative aspects of Peregrine & Black's businesses. Jane has joined us from Ireland with a background in IT.
David Jobson
CHARTERED FINANCIAL PLANNER
David's career began in the mid 1990’s with Barclays where he enjoyed various roles including working for the corporate sector and specialised in currency trades with overseas businesses. At the beginning of 2000 he transitioned across to the Wealth sector with Barclays providing financial advice to HNW individuals and businesses. David has 22 years of experience in the industry, is Chartered Financial Planner and is a Chartered Member of The London Institute of Banking & Finance.
Shakhil Islam
INDEPENDENT FINANCIAL ADVISER
Shakhil joined Pererine & Black Investment Management in 2021. In 2012 he began his career in financial services, working at an international company based in Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany, specialising in helping expatriates with their financial planning with an emphasis on pension switches and transfers into Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Schemes (QROPS). Shakhil had previously worked at Foster Denovo and Gallagher, the latter where he was also a member of the investment committee. He is qualified as a regulated Financial Adviser with both the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), London Institute of Banking and Finanace (LIBF) and a Pension Transfer Specialist.
Simon Holloway
CHARTERED FINANCIAL PLANNER
Simon joined the team at Peregrine & Black Investment Management in 2022 as an Independent Financial Adviser and Pension Transfer Specialist. He has been in financial services all of his working life and in 2000 began his career as a financial adviser with Barclays Wealth. Simon is qualified to provide advice in all areas of planning specialising in investment, tax and pension advice, he is a Chartered Associate of the London Institute of Banking & Finance.
Max Weatherby
CHARTERED WEALTH MANAGER
Max's career in the City of London has taken him to several firms including Morgan Grenfell and Henderson Global Investors. In 2009 he joined a newly formed Hawksmoor Investment Management where he was a founding director and a senior portfolio manager for 14 years. The firm enjoyed considerable growth in that time in both multi-asset funds and discretionary portfolio management service. In 2024 he was instrumental in establishing the private office with Peregrine & Black which trades as Eclipse Private Office.
Max is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment.
Chris Ling
INDEPENDENT FINANCIAL ADVISOR
After graduating from University College London, Chris began his career as a financial adviser at Boolers. He then transitioned to institutional asset management with Alliance Bernstein, where he specialised in global equity portfolios. Returning to private wealth management, Chris brought his expertise in institutional-style, liability-driven investment techniques to high-net-worth families. With over 20 years of experience in financial services, Chris is dedicated to helping clients achieve their financial goals.
